Porsche 996 Carrera
The 996 Carrera was the first water-cooled 911, a reset that split the room at launch and looks inevitable in hindsight. Narrow-bodied and naturally aspirated, it kept the classic 911 proportions while the engine moved on. Those fried-egg headlights became the face of a generation. It is the 996 in its purest form: the one that made the jump, without the Turbo's wide hips or the 4S's all-wheel drive.
