Porsche 996 GT3
The 996 GT3 was Porsche's answer to anyone who thought water cooling had made the 911 soft. Behind the rear axle sat a dry-sump flat-six with roots in the 962 and the 911 GT1 race cars, not the engine from the regular Carrera. No rear seats, a fixed rear wing, and a chassis tuned on the Nordschleife, where it lapped in under eight minutes in 1999. It started the GT3 line that still sets the benchmark today.
